Hamilton Matthews

CEO

Instrumental in developing the strategy for the specialist range of business intelligence products, Hamilton leads a group of dynamic, entrepreneurial and dedicated individuals who are skilled at identifying the best opportunities to ensure the continued expansion of Acuris.

His vision is for Acuris to be recognised as the most significant provider of global corporate financial intelligence and analysis, with subscribers accessing this information as their first port of call, on a daily basis. To achieve this, Hamilton’s strategic focus is set firmly on further development of new products and exploring new acquisition possibilities.

 

Previous experience

Hamilton joined Mergermarket in 2001 and has 18 years’ experience in financial information, including five years at Thomson Financial where he was Sales Director for the Investment Banking and Capital Markets division.

Jonathan Gomer

Chief Financial Officer

As well as responsibility for finance and accounting, Jonathan oversees the company's legal, HR and corporate finance matters. He was head of the Acuris new product development team before becoming CFO in 2009.

 

Previous experience

Jonathan has over 20 years’ experience in finance and publishing with Pearson Plc, where he worked for The Economist, the Financial Times and Financial Times Business. He joined Acuris in 2007, following our acquisition by the FT Group.

Jonathan is a qualified accountant and a Business and Finance graduate of Middlesex University Business School.

Ken Meehan

Editor in Chief, Debtwire

Ken defines the focus and direction for Debtwire’s debt market coverage across the globe, while ensuring its editorial service is always in step with what subscribers need. He brings a critical eye to Debtwire’s ongoing reporting in order to maximize value for readers.

 

Previous experience

He has 12 years’ experience in the leveraged credit market, with ten of those dedicated to financial journalism. Prior to joining Debtwire in 2005, Ken worked for the Thomson Reuters publication, International Financing Review. Before that, he spent two years at Securities Data Corporation which provided him with a solid background of the syndicated loans market.

Jonathan Reed

Managing Director, Fixed Income

Jonathan brings focus and commercial awareness to his role as Global Managing Director. He is responsible for Debtwire’s commercial operations, product development and strategy in all the territories in which it operates.

 

Previous experience

Jonathan’s background includes rolling-out businesses into new markets. As Head of Sales for the Americas, he introduced Debtwire to North and Latin America and helped build the commercial side of Debtwire after its launch in Europe. Before he joined Acuris in 2002, Jonathan worked at ING on its UK Institutional Equity Sales desk and at Goldman Sachs group.

Natasha Brooks

Head of Fixed Income Sales, America

Natasha joined the Acuris in 2004. With a talent for new business growth and generation, she launched Xtract Research’s European business from a start-up situation in 2010 and ensured its subsequent growth into the leading provider of covenant analysis in the European fixed income market.  Natasha now is based in our New York office heading up our US fixed income sales department.
 
Previous experience
Since 2004, Natasha has held a number of positions within the company starting out at Debtwire and moving on to manage the group’s healthcare information business. Natasha’s experience prior to the Acuris includes six years at Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc during which time she set up a business introducing start-up hedge fund managers to service providers.

Angus Codd

Head of Sales - EMEA

Angus drives the sales efforts of all Debtwire’s services within the EMEA region, to buy-side and advisory subscribers.

Previous experience
Angus began his career with TFPL Intelligent Resources, initially as a recruitment professional, before moving into management consultancy around Information/Research and Knowledge Management skills. He has 16 years’ experience in the information and finance industries, joining Acuris in 2003, selling the Mergermarket service to the UK and German advisory markets. In 2006 he moved to drive Debtwire’s advisory sales in Europe before transitioning to a wider buy-side subscriber base.

Paul Greaves

Managing Editor - Municipal Debt

Paul joined Debtwire in February 2011 as Managing Editor for the Municipals product. Paul heads a team of five talented journalists that provide credit-specific coverage of the municipal bond market.

Previous experience
Paul brings a diverse range of public finance experience including stints at a rating agency (Moody’s Investors Service), letter of credit banks (Dexia Credit Local and BNP Paribas), and municipal bond insurers (FGIC and National Public Finance Guarantee). Paul has done analysis in a variety of sectors including tax-backed, transportation, not-for-profits and healthcare. Paul has worked on underwriting, credit remediation, municipal swaps, portfolio surveillance and waiver/consent issues.

Chris Haffenden

Managing Editor - CEEMEA

Chris Haffenden is Managing Editor of Debtwire CEEMEA , which prides itself on early stage origination financing opportunities in CEE/Russia/CIS, MENA and sub-Saharan Africa.
Chris joined Debtwire Europe in 2004 as a reporter covering stressed/distressed debt, and restructuring. He became deputy editor of Debtwire Europe in 2010, and in early 2011, he launched Debtwire ABS Europe as Editor, focusing on distressed real estate and CMBS restructuring.
 
Previous Experience
Prior to becoming a financial journalist, Chris spent over 15 years in financial markets, primarily as a bond trader. Starting with Australian Eurobonds for Barclays in 1990, then US dollar corporates before moving to the Emerging Market debt arena. Chris then spent two years at Jefferies International covering European High Yield. He traded European and Asian Convertibles during the TMT bust in 2001, and spent some time in the US with their restructuring advisory practice.
 

Adelene Lee

Director of Subscriber-Content Relations

Adelene is Director of Subscriber-Content Relations, and is one of the most recognized Debtwire faces globally, having spent time guiding editorial teams in our New York, London, Hong Kong and Singapore offices since joining in January 2005. She is one of the founding editorial members of Debtwire North America, where she helped launch the coverage of distressed airlines and retailers.
She was transferred to London in 2007 to lead and expand Debtwire Europe’s restructuring and distressed content and in late 2010 moved to Asia where she covered Japanese corporate debt restructurings and spearheaded Debtwire Asia’s loans coverage. Adelene is now back in London overseeing global strategic initiatives for the Fixed Income Group.

Jessie Ma

Head of Sales - APAC

Jessie drives the sales efforts for all of Debtwire's services within the APAC region. 
 
Previous experience
Jessie began her career as a Sales Executive with HSBC in 2005, before moving on to a Senior Account Manager role at Accutone. She joined Acuris in 2010 and has since held a number of positions within the company. Ben Miller

Managing Editor - Debtwire Latin America

Ben is Managing Editor for Latin America, supervising a team of nine journalists in New York, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Chile.
 
Previous Experience
Ben has eight years experience as a financial journalist. He joined Debtwire in January after six years at LatinFinance, where he specialized in the Latin American debt and equity capital markets and directed its daily news coverage. He has worked as a journalist in Mexico, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Luc Mongeon

Managing Editor - Asia Pacific

Luc joined Debtwire in 2006 as Managing Editor for the Asia Pacific region and now is responsible for a team of 14 journalists and five analysts that cover primarily the stressed/distressed debt, high yield and primary debt markets.

 

Previous experience
Luc has over 20 years as a financial journalist in Asia covering fixed income, credit derivatives and distressed debt markets. He first started covering distressed debt markets in 1989 as a reporter for IFR in Japan; in 1998 he initiated and developed coverage of the Asian distressed debt markets for IFR Asia.

Allison Pyburn

Previous experience
 
Allison joined Acuris in 2007 and has since held a number of positions within the company. Starting as Senior Reporter for the group 10 years ago in New York, Allison now heads up the editorial team for Debtwire ABS, based in Los Angeles. Andrew Ragsly

Managing Editor – North America

The team of journalists Andrew manages in New York routinely breaks news in restructuring, distressed and primary market situations. Editorial content also delves into detailed analysis of recovery scenarios, relative value and buyside strategy. Andrew joined Debtwire in 2007 as a reporter covering industrial sectors. He became deputy editor of Debtwire North America in 2011, and took over as managing editor in 2012.

Previous experience

Andrew started his journalism career in 2002 at weekly newspaper The Bronx Times where he won the 2003 New York Press Association first place award for coverage of religion and an honorable mention for coverage of the arts. He went on to cover police and courthouse beats for daily newspapers in New England, and also covered civil litigation for American Lawyer Media.

Robert Schach

Managing Editor - Europe

Rob manages the editorial team in London, overseeing the leveraged loan, high yield, restructuring, sovereign, Spain, Nordics and mid-market desks. He joined Debtwire in 2007 as a high yield reporter covering primary markets, going on to head the desk and ramping up its secondary market coverage. He became deputy editor of Debtwire Europe at the start of 2011 and took over as managing editor mid 2012.
 
Previous experience
Prior to joining Debtwire, Rob reported for two years on the European securitization market at EuroWeek, where he covered new ABS asset classes such as catastrophe bonds, as well as the development and subsequent collapse of the European sub-prime RMBS market.
He began his career as a chemical engineer, initially working as a research technician for ICI Explosives in South Africa, before moving to Europe where he took up a technical sales role in the industrial wastewater treatment sector.

Aja Whitaker-Moore

Deputy Editor in Chief

Aja helps manage Debtwire’s editorial operations around the world, relying on more than a decade of combined financial reporting and editing experience.
 
Previous experience
Aja has won two awards from the Society of Professional Journalists Mid-Florida Chapter in recognition of her achievements in general and business reporting. Before joining Acuris in March 2005, she was a reporter with American City Business Journals, the largest publisher of metropolitan business newspapers in the USA.
