Debtwire journalists win two prestigious media awards

We’re very proud to announce that Debtwire’s APAC Loans Editor, Stephen Aldred and Debtwire’s EU Senior Reporter, Antonio Vanuzzo have won two prestigious media awards.
Stephen Aldred has been named Journalist of the Year for 2016 in the Alternatives category at the fifth annual State Street Institutional Press Awards. Stephen won the category for investigative stories that unearthed information on private equity funds backed by Chinese princelings, an area of Asia’s financial markets cloaked in secrecy, but a key indicator of political and financial currents in the world’s second-largest economy. Stephen’s stories show how the contrasting fortunes of funds in the wake of an ongoing anti-corruption campaign, including Boyu Capital, an investment fund co-founded by the grandson of former China premier Jiang Zemin, and Nepoch Capital, a firm co-founded by He Guoqiang, the former head of Communist Party discipline.
Antonio Vanuzzo won the prestigious Media and Communication category as part of the UK Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s recognition of Talented Young Italians and their professional achievements and contribution to business development between Italy and the UK. The ceremony took place at Church House, Westminster with over 200 people attending and the award was given to laud Antonio’s outstanding portrayal of the Italian banking system.
